Since 2012, the artist duo Eszter Sipos & Caba Árpád Horvath have been working under the name HeyWeSeeAskShowAndDie, blending personal experiences with the social issues that concern them. Their latest work is rooted in two life-defining events: the loss of their parents and the birth of their son. Both events confronted them with the societal role of parenthood and the everyday, sometimes humor-filled moments of caregiving.
Becoming parents changed how they perceive both the present and the past. While their child moved forward-learning to walk and speak-they simultaneously turned backward, attempting to understand the memories and behavioral patterns that emerged from these situations. This parallel but opposing movement is echoed in their installation, which employs the tools of painting and sculpture to merge generations, fragmented thoughts, and intimate narratives into a polyphonic family portrait.
